Seasonal Lighting Campaign

Following the suggestion of the Byram Township Council, in 2007 Mayor Danielson requested support from the Council to set up a dedicated account into which contributions could be made for the purpose of funding seasonal lighting along Route 206 in Byram. Mayor Danielson worked closely with Jersey Central Power & Light to coordinate the installation of power supplies on utility poles. A fund-raising effort was launched and approximately $11,000 was raised by Thanksgiving 2007 to offset the cost of the power supplies. The Mayor also arranged to borrow seasonal lights from the Hopatcong Businessmen’s Association through Vito at Sign Arts Graphics.

In September 2008, the Council approved the request of Mayor Danielson to proceed to raise funds to purchase Byram’s own seasonal lighting. A fund-raising effort was undertaken and an additional $11,000 was raised to purchase 24 seasonal displays.

Depending on the level of donations in the future and the continued interest within the community, additional seasonal lighting displays may be added to the current inventory Byram now proudly displays.
